HEALTH RISKS DUE TO SMOKE AND FRAGRANCE
Fragrance and smoke are known respiratory system irritants and even neurological toxins. One in 5 people in the United States experience adverse health effects from smoke or fragrance exposure (WOLFF, 2006). Smoke and fragrances can set off migraines, allergies, asthma attacks, irritate the nose and eyes, cause nausea, cause tightening in the throat, and other reactions (KOGEVINAS, et. al., 2007). Such attacks can lead to unnecessary office visits, hospitalization and yes, even death. Studies show that even electronic cigarettes emit enough fragrance to set off allergy and asthma attacks.
For these reasons we ask you kindly not to wear perfume or smoke (even electronic cigarettes) on the days you're coming in for an appointment and or anywhere on the premises. Please think of others.
Thank you so much for your cooperation.
